It’s kinda of sad how most people only know him as Steve Urkel and not his government name Jaleel White; guess that’s what happens when you were a child star. Anywho, the actor who first appeared on “Family Matter’s is set to hit your living room soon again but this time as a game show host.
The Scoop:
Syfy announced that it’s snapped up former “Family Matters” actor Jaleel White — who put the geek in “geek chic” more than two decades ago — to host its new competition game show, “Total Blackout.”
The half-hour series, which begins filming next week in Los Angeles, is based on an international hit of the same name. In it, contestants face their greatest fears — and each other — in absolute darkness.
“They’re basically limited to four of their [five] senses” in the competition, White said in an interview. “You do not use your sense of sight, because obviously you’re in darkness.”
Challenges will include “tarantulas and snakes and all kinds of wonderful things,” he said, adding that filming will be done entirely in night vision. “The biggest surprise will be the contestants themselves — will they maintain their composure in the darkness or not because the darkness brings out something in all of us.”
The series is due to premiere next year in Syfy’s primetime lineup. [source]
I would much prefer seeing Jaleel on a “Family Matter’s” reunion show but I guess I will take what I can.
