After successfully producing VH1’s highly rated show “Single Ladies“, Queen Latifah is gearing up to take her career to the next level.  The Queen is set to debut a new daytime talk show produced by Hollywood’s royalty couple Will & Jada Smith that is set to rival Oprah’s.

The Scoop:

Sony announced Monday it is getting together with Latifah and Will Smith — and Jada Pinkett Smith — to produce a new syndicated daytime talk show that would star the rapper turned actress.

The show would not launch until the fall of 2013, in order to allow time for the thinning of the herd of would-be-New-Oprah’s — a herd that currently includes Anderson Cooper, Ricki Lake, Steve Harvey, Bethenny Frankel, and even Jeff Probst. Some of those daytime programs, including Katie’s, won’t be ready to launch until fall of ’12.

Latifah and Will Smith — and Jada Pinkett Smith — will exec produce the new talker, Sony said in its announcement — a complicated macedoine of names of companies owned by Latifah and Smith — and Jada Pinket Smith, and names of suits working at those companies who have also laid claim to exec-producer credit on the new show. There has been many people who tried so they better get it right.  I’m rooting for Queen Latifah but daytime TV & ratings can be a b*tch!  Besides that, it’s good to see another African-American making moves on daytime TV in which there aren’t many “blacks” present.

We have Whoopi Goldberg & Sherri Shepherd on “The View“, comedian’s Sheryl Underwood & Aisha Tyler on “The Talk“, and now a new show with Queen Latifah, this coud be good!

And besides, why does everyone wanna be Oprah anyone?  Hell folks need to do them and their own paths. We all know there will not be another Oprah but their can always be a bigger Oprah.
