The mega empire built by Bishop Eddie Long known as “New Birth” is slowly coming down one brick at a time. Yet I find it quite embarrassing & interesting that folks who attend the church continue to walk around Atlanta as if there’s nothing going on. Better yet, some of the church member’s even have the nerve to get an attitude if you ask them anything about the Bishop or the church.
We’ll I guess this is just another prime example of what’s really going on down there at New Birth. Despite, the church being in denial there is yet more trouble for Eddie Long & New Birth. Out of no where & without any warning’s New Birth’s Christian Academy has shut down for good! Oh yeah by the way, parents of students who attended the school are confused & pissed!
The Scoop:
New Birth Christian Academy is shutting its doors, Channel 2 Action News reported Tuesday night. The school, which enrolls students in kindergarten through the 12th grade, has been struggling financially for years, officials said.
The academy is affiliated with New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia and the embattled Bishop Eddie Long, but school officials told Channel 2 that the decision to close is not related to the sexual coercion allegations against him.
The school will not reopen after the holidays, the report said.
In a statement, school officials told Channel 2, “The deficit, along with the declining enrollment over the years, left the New Birth Christian Academy Board of Directors with no other option. The board has made the tough decision to temporarily close the school.”
The letters sent to parents said the academy’s staff will help students with relocation.
The academy is housed inside the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. A spokesperson made it clear that the school closure has nothing to do with the sex abuse allegations against Bishop Eddie Long.
“I don’t believe that. I believe that this last straw with the divorce, the sealed settlement, it just does not look good,” said the parent. [source][source]
I guess one would really be a fool to think that this has nothing to do with the church’s financial situation….or the scandal surrounding Bishop Eddie Long. They can say what they want but what I do know is that the church has been funding that academy…and the church also funds Bishop Eddie Long’s pay check…and that money funded the settlement so take it how you will….
Mind you all of this is happening all of a sudden now….what ever happen to those words Bishop Eddie Long uttered on the pulpit when the sex allegations against him from came out. Remember when he said “This thing I’m going to fight!, I feel like David against Goliath. But I got five rocks, and I haven’t thrown one yet“.
Ummm…yea….what happen to all that talk…?!?!? So what is it going to take next, for the church to close?
